As the production of my album ‘Golly Gosh’ winds up, and I come to the surface to take a breath. I have come to the realisation that I haven’t shared any new music with you this year. As you may have seen last week, I shared an album teaser trailer (Watch here). Now I am proud to share with you my debut single from this release ‘Creep’!
‘Creep’ serves as a footnote to the rest of ‘Golly Gosh’. As an illustration of how the creative process of making music has been rapidly changing for me, examining my place in the music industry, how I see things happening around me. And how money has a tendency to change people in the Hip Hop game.
This song delivers as an ode & reminder to thank and pay homage to those who have come before us. In particular I have made reference to a couple of my greatest inspirations Ms Lauren Hill & TLC. Its not often I site other artists in my works, but this time I felt it was relevant.
I am eagerly waiting an album release date for ‘Golly Gosh’ but for now here’s something to warm your appetite.‘Creep’ is now available for download/ streaming via
Album will be available through – Rising Tide Records, Bandcamp, iTunes and all other reputable outlets. Album release date TBA 2016.
I am proud to announce that I will be supporting Brother Ali for the Melbourne stint of his Australian tour this September! I am also pleased to announce that old friend/ DMC finalist DJ Rellik will be joining me on the decks for our set!
Controversial Minneapolis MC and community activist Brother Ali has announced a run of select exclusive shows including Melbourne @ Laundry Bar.
Never one to shy away from the world’s problems, Ali has won the hearts and minds of hip hop fans world wide with his intimate song writing, captivating live performances and outspoken stance on issues of justice and human dignity.
His extensive resume includes six critically acclaimed albums, mentorships with iconic hip hop legends Chuck D and Rakim as well as performances on late night talk shows Conan O Brien and Jimmy Fallon.
He’s been the subject of Al-Jazeera and NPR pieces and was a keynote speaker at this year’s Nobel Peace Prize Forum. He’s landed coveted press features such as Rolling Stone’s 40th anniversary “Artist to Watch” and Source Magazine’s “Hip Hop Quotables.”
Brother Ali’s latest album release ‘Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color’ is a politically charged album which aims to reawaken people at this time.
“This is not just a new album, but a new chapter. There’s a kind of democratic reawakening in people at this point in time. I was really looking to take these topics and really hit them hard. To try to open ears and hearts and invite people to take some action and feel empowered. To be engaged and take some agency and responsibility for what’s going on in the world.” Brother Ali.
More recently he dropped ‘Left in the Deck’ which is a collection of raw, grimy recordings made in basements and hotel rooms around the world produced entirely by Jake One.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPNATCOhiSs Hey all! If you are reading this you are probably watching our new music video! Mick has taken Bron and myself months to put together and was by far the most involved project we have worked on together to date. Bron’s work on this clip is beyond words, we had no financial or label support creating this video but here we are! and so far the video seems to be a hit. Director/ visual artist Bron Flutterby has once again joined forces with musician Bastian Killjoy to produce his latest film clip Mick. Taken from Bastian’s latest full length album Sides Of Me, which is out now. Featuring an array of breathtaking visuals and stunning cinematography, Mick is an odyssey through the astral plain, as we are guided to the far side of space and invited inside the prismatic imaginations of Bastian Killjoy and Bron Flutterby. With Mick’s transient clarity having a similar texture to a film shot in mid 1980’s, it would appear that Mick has always existed in the back recesses of our cognitive minds. Mick was written for a fan named Mick during Bastian’s Pozible campaign in 2014, which saw the production of the album Sides Of Me on vinyl, and is the second film clip taken from the album. With the single Tie Me To This being the first released in November of 2014. The single Mick is currently available for free download via TripleJ Unearthed We hope you guys enjoy all the hard work we have put into this! I would like to thank Tim Hanson for all his hard work on helping me finish this album. It has certainly paid off. I want to thank Bron Flutterby for her countless hours of shooting/ editing the video and last but not least I would like to thank all of you for your support during my Pozible campaign. We wouldn’t be able to make this happen without you! BAS
As a big thank you to all of you who supported my Pozible campaign earlier in the year, Bass Estrada and I have released a new EP for FREE! I wanted to give something back to you guys for making my last album possible. So It is that we present to you ‘The You & Me EP’
Beyond the great divides of sea and continents, emerges an archaic collaboration of epic measures. As Australian artist Bastian Killjoy and Russian Hip Hop producer Bass Estrada announce the release of their EP ‘The You & Me EP’ which arrived on Thursday the 18th.
It’s no secret that rising Melbourne emcee, Bastian Killjoy has been making waves with his insightful, mind-bending lyricism. We now see Bastian ordained to explore uncharted terrain, with Bass Estrada’s mood shifting, ambient sound scapes, challenging Bastian’s lyrical ability every step of the way. As the pair unite to bring to the world their notable and visionary masterpiece ‘The You & Me EP’.
Throughout this journey of elaborate arrangements, and perfectly balanced sounds, it is evident that the duo jells flawlessly. Performing a balancing act of polyphonic unification that is rarely seen in today’s world of Hip Hop.
‘The You & Me EP’ is now available for free digital download via Bandcamp.
Upon the release of my album ‘Sides Of Me’ a couple of months ago, I was unsure as to whether I wanted to share these new songs on a live platform, that is performing them to an audience.
There is an abstract fragment of electronic soundscapes, mixed in with acoustic drums through most of the songs from the release and to tell you the truth I am not totally convinced that this is what a crowd wants to see live.
Maybe it doesn’t make sense, maybe i’m too far out there. Or maybe this just belongs at home while your stoned in your lounge room on a Friday night. Who knows.
Nevertheless I have played a few of these new songs live, a few times, to a few people. And they seemed to enjoy them, so Bron Flutterby recorded a video of one of my “favourite” songs ‘All Over’ live to share with you.
You who I do not know and who does not know me, you the music enthusiast that was able to find this in the infinite internet. Where some things are lost and people choose brush over importance for short term gratification or stimulation.
So if we are going to get into this and I am going to share this with you, then I will say this song is written in reference to pioneering Sci-Fi films. That is the sound I was aiming to achieve. The lyrics are about how far my spirit has come to awaken at this point in time. But this is a fragment of the whole story, how could I express and expose so much of myself in just under 3 minutes? I couldn’t, and that is why the album ‘Sides Of Me’ is my story of who I am, why I am here, what is happening around me, my intentions, obsessions, love all of it. Summed up in one album, that is to say where I have been and where I am now. My previous albums and EP’s attempt to explain the rest.
Bastian has released a new single with St Petersburg based producer Bass Estrada. ‘Well Played’ is the second collaborative single release from the 2 artists and is available for exclusive free download via Soundcloud. With the release of Bastian’s new album ‘Sides Of Me’ a couple of months ago Bastian has been branching out and looking at new collaborative projects to work on.
“I have been looking for something different to work on and this just fell right in front of me. There is a soothing and sometimes melancholy sound behind these tracks from Bass Estrada which just drew me to his work. While producing all of my own instrumental in the past, I thought I would expand and draw on different styles between albums. Both ‘Well Played’ and ‘Carry On’ have become some of my most diverse works and it is definitely something I am not complaining about. I have a feeling we will be releasing a lot more music together this year” – BAS
