Bastian Bucks ‘ This Machine Kills Dreams’ Album/ Music Video Release

‘This Machine Kills Dreams’ is the 6th studio album release, from Melbourne based producer/ rapper Bastian Bucks. The self-produced album underlines some of the independent artist’s finest works to date, and is out today.

Simultaneously, Bastian has released a music video for the single ‘Letters To God’. Shot in Florence, Italy in late 2017 ‘Letters To God’ is the final music video from this series.

“I finished mixing/ mastering ‘TMKD’ in June of 2017, but wanted to shoot some videos to coincide with the album, leading up its release. It was just coincidence that I wrote ‘Letters To God’ only to find myself in a holy city on the other side of the world months later.

It seemed like fate, so I took advantage of the opportunity and Florence ended up tying the songs theme together perfectly.”

– Bastian Bucks

‘This Machine Kills Dreams’ is available for streaming and download via Spotify, iTunes, Google Play and Bandcamp

Bastian Bucks – ‘Get Heavy’ Music Video

BASTIAN BUCKS ‘GET HEAVY’ MUSIC VIDEO/ SINGLE

‘Get Heavy’ is the 2nd music video/ single release, from Melbourne based producer/ rapper Bastian Bucks’. Filmed in the forests of Berlin, Germany during a tour across Europe in late 2017. ‘Get Heavy’ is an extract from Bastian’s forthcoming album ‘This Machine Kills Dreams’, due for release in March 2018.

“ ‘Get Heavy’ serves as a commentary on my life, as an artist and as a person. The idea when writing the album has been to share my experiences with the audience, to give an understanding of just where I am coming from. I wanted to approach this concept with conviction, objectively.

Pop culture, cartoons, music, video games and film have all played a part in moulding how I present my art. ‘Get Heavy’ is reflective and in reference to this.”

‘Get Heavy’ is available for streaming and download via Spotify, iTunes and Google Play Album Pre orders are available via Bandcamp

BASTIAN KILLJOY ALBUM OUT JULY

Album cover artHip Hop artist Bastian Killjoy has set upon a new journey this year with the announcement of his 4th full length album release ‘Golly Gosh’, due for arrival on July 21st 2016.

The rapturous Melbourne based producer/ emcee has modelled his latest works around his earliest Hip Hop, Rap and R&B influences, many being from the early 90’s. With production styles that recognise artists of the 70’s and 80’s, in a time when musician’s recorded/ produced and mixed their albums, utilising their own skills. Which is precisely what Bastian has done with his latest masterpiece ‘Golly Gosh’ entirely produced by himself.

I have produced all my other albums, to an extent, but have always got to a point where I have needed help from others to complete the project. This time around I have placed a lot of importance on the album belonging to me, I believe it is my most lyrical and personal work to date. After many painstaking months of hard work, I think it’s paid off”. – B. K

From the inspiration of intrigue and true artistry, come the untold workings of Hip Hop enthusiast and architect, Bastian Killjoy.

Album available through – Bandcamp, iTunes and all other reputable outlets

BASTIAN KILLJOY’S ‘CREEP’ OUT NOW

As the production of my album ‘Golly Gosh’ winds up, and I come to the surface to take a breath. I have come to the realisation that I haven’t shared any new music with you this year. As you may have seen last week, I shared an album teaser trailer (Watch here). Now I am proud to share with you my debut single from this release ‘Creep’!

‘Creep’ serves as a footnote to the rest of ‘Golly Gosh’. As an illustration of how the creative process of making music has been rapidly changing for me, examining my place in the music industry, how I see things happening around me. And how money has a tendency to change people in the Hip Hop game.

This song delivers as an ode & reminder to thank and pay homage to those who have come before us. In particular I have made reference to a couple of my greatest inspirations  Ms Lauren Hill & TLC. Its not often I site other artists in my works, but this time I felt it was relevant.

I am eagerly waiting an album release date for ‘Golly Gosh’ but for now here’s something to warm your appetite.‘Creep’ is now available for download/ streaming via

Album will be available through – Rising Tide Records, Bandcamp, iTunes and all other reputable outlets. Album release date TBA 2016.

NEW TUNES FOR SUMMER!

Did I hear new music?? Thats right! Just hours ago my latest music video for my latest single The Voynich Manus went live on Youtube! + streaming/ downloading here
I am really happy to be able to share this song & accompanying video with you. It feels like more than a year ago since I released my albumSides Of Me, with your help, but it has only been 10 months since then. A lot has changed and evolved with my music and the creative process during this time. I’m not sure where I am heading, but it is certainly away from where I was before and that means growth.

‘The Voynich Manus’ is really an interpretive piece on today, 2015. the things happening around us, our reactions, your reaction. How we see the world and how the world might see us back, on a level we often undermine and neglect, on a mindful level. What do we really know about who we are in proportion to the whole/ and that is why I called this song The Voynich Manus(cript). I hope people will find understanding in my intentions and put meaning to my madness. If not, the tune is pretty fly.

You can stream or download ‘The Voynich Manus’ for free HERE. I will have more details on my forthcoming album as we head over to the new year. Wishing you all a very happy and safe holiday season!

BASTIAN KILLJOY/ DJ RELLIK ANNOUNCED TO SUPPORT BROTHER ALI IN MELBOURNE THIS SEPTEMBER!

11885001_982236495132015_6415254353723007668_oI am proud to announce that I will be supporting Brother Ali for the Melbourne stint of his Australian tour this September! I am also pleased to announce that old friend/ DMC finalist DJ Rellik will be joining me on the decks for our set!

Controversial Minneapolis MC and community activist Brother Ali has announced a run of select exclusive shows including Melbourne @ Laundry Bar.

Never one to shy away from the world’s problems, Ali has won the hearts and minds of hip hop fans world wide with his intimate song writing, captivating live performances and outspoken stance on issues of justice and human dignity.

His extensive resume includes six critically acclaimed albums, mentorships with iconic hip hop legends Chuck D and Rakim as well as performances on late night talk shows Conan O Brien and Jimmy Fallon.

He’s been the subject of Al-Jazeera and NPR pieces and was a keynote speaker at this year’s Nobel Peace Prize Forum. He’s landed coveted press features such as Rolling Stone’s 40th anniversary “Artist to Watch” and Source Magazine’s “Hip Hop Quotables.”

Brother Ali’s latest album release ‘Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color’ is a politically charged album which aims to reawaken people at this time.

“This is not just a new album, but a new chapter. There’s a kind of democratic reawakening in people at this point in time. I was really looking to take these topics and really hit them hard. To try to open ears and hearts and invite people to take some action and feel empowered. To be engaged and take some agency and responsibility for what’s going on in the world.” Brother Ali.

More recently he dropped ‘Left in the Deck’ which is a collection of raw, grimy recordings made in basements and hotel rooms around the world produced entirely by Jake One.

BASTIAN KILLJOY’S NEW MUSIC VIDEO ‘MICK’

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPNATCOhiSs Hey all! If you are reading this you are probably watching our new music video! Mick has taken Bron and myself months to put together and was by far the most involved project we have worked on together to date. Bron’s work on this clip is beyond words, we had no financial or label support creating this video but here we are! and so far the video seems to be a hit. Director/ visual artist Bron Flutterby has once again joined forces with musician Bastian Killjoy to produce his latest film clip MickTaken from Bastian’s latest full length album  Sides Of Me, which is out now. Featuring an array of breathtaking visuals and stunning cinematography, Mick is an odyssey through the astral plain, as we are guided to the far side of space and invited inside the prismatic imaginations of Bastian Killjoy and Bron Flutterby. With Mick’s transient clarity having a similar texture to a film shot in mid 1980’s, it would appear that Mick has always existed in the back recesses of our cognitive minds. Mick was written for a fan named Mick during Bastian’s Pozible campaign in 2014, which saw the production of the album Sides Of Me on vinyl, and is the second film clip taken from the album. With the single Tie Me To This being the first released in November of 2014. The single Mick is currently available for free download via TripleJ Unearthed We hope you guys enjoy all the hard work we have put into this! I would like to thank Tim Hanson for all his hard work on helping me finish this album. It has certainly paid off. I want to thank Bron Flutterby for her countless hours of shooting/ editing the video and last but not least I would like to thank all of you for your support during my Pozible campaign. We wouldn’t be able to make this happen without you! BAS

‘WELL PLAYED’ NEW SINGLE FROM BASTIAN KILLJOY X BASS ESTRADA

Bastian has released a new single with St Petersburg based producer Bass Estrada. ‘Well Played’ is the second collaborative single release from the 2 artists and is available for exclusive free download via Soundcloud. With the release of Bastian’s new album ‘Sides Of Me’ a couple of months ago Bastian has been branching out and looking at new collaborative projects to work on.

I have been looking for something different to work on and this just fell right in front of me. There is a soothing and sometimes melancholy sound behind these tracks from Bass Estrada which just drew me to his work. While producing all of my own instrumental in the past, I thought I would expand and draw on different styles between albums. Both ‘Well Played’ and ‘Carry On’  have become some of my most diverse works and it is definitely something I am not complaining about. I have a feeling we will be releasing a lot more music together this year” – BAS

Bass Estrada X Bastian Killjoy have also released another single ‘Carry On’ last month, which is also available for free download via Soundcloud.

EXPRESSIONS OF FREEDOM – HOP HOP AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

10928857_904099016296823_4334155153534405605_nI am proud to be a part of this great event, which is happening tomorrow night at The Reverence Hotel in Footscray! This event will feature some of the most talented local artists around, all while raising much needed funds and attention for a good cause- White Ribbon.

Intimate partner violence is the most common type of violence against women, affecting 30 per cent of women worldwide, according to the 2013 World Health Organization report

Over 12 months, on average, one woman is killed every week as a result of intimate partner violence.

A woman is most likely to be killed by her male partner in her home.

Domestic and family violence is the principle cause of homelessness for women and their children.

Intimate partner violence is the leading contributor to death, disability and ill-health in Australian women aged 15-44.

One in three women have experienced physical and/or sexual violence perpetrated by someone known to them.

One in four children are exposed to domestic violence, which is a recognised form of child abuse.

The cost of violence against women to the Australian economy is estimated to rise to $15.6 billion per annum.

One in five women experience harassment within the workplace.

One in five women over 18 has been stalked during her lifetime.

Exceptionally talented artists, a great night of hip hop and a very important cause should be all the reason you need to come along.

‘TIE ME TO THIS’ SINGLE/ MUSIC VIDEO OUT SOON!

Hey guys,

We have been working sweat and tears to bring you this single and accompanying film clip. ‘Tie Me To This’ is the 4th single release from my next album ‘Sides Of Me’ which is set for release late February of 2015. This will be the last single release until the album arrives next year. We (Flutterby Multimedia and I) have never done anything like this video before. We have taken all abstracts of reality and tuned them into a single headspace within it’s own theme. If that sounds crazy, well it is and it has been also very fun to make.

We are now in the final stages of editing and rendering out this video. So it will be finished very soon. All pledgers of my Pozible campaign will be receiving an exclusive download of the new single ‘Tie Me To This’ as well as an exclusive preview of the music video before it’s release. So if this is you keep checking your emails for something from me.

I am currently running a Pozible campaign to finish and release this album on both vinyl and CD format. I have been running this campaign for almost 6 weeks and with just over 2 weeks to go we have raised 75% of the total needed to complete ‘Sides Of Me’. This has been an exhaustive, inspiring and sometimes heart wrenching experience but one I am glad to be a part of. I have released 3 other singles from the album which are available for streaming and download HERE.

If you would like to hear more about my journey you can follow me HERE to my Pozible Campaign. For more direct monthly updates on my music/ shows and releases, you can join my mailing list HERE

WEEK 3 POZIBLE CAMPAIGN/ ALBUM UPDATE

Hello to everyone out there, welcome to this weeks update on my Pozible campaign. We are already 3 weeks in and time is flying by. I’m trying to keep creative on these updates, so I thought I would do something different. I have also laid ‘Entitlement’ over the video, so I suppose you could look at this as a music video. Speaking of which, we are currently shooting a film clip for the next single. I don’t have an exact arrival time on this yet, but I can tell you it will be released within the next month before the campaign winds up in December.

So far we are making great steed on finishing this album. I only have 3 more songs to write/ compose/ record and then everything will be sent off to U.S based producer Tim Hanson at North Village Recordings, for mixing and mastering. I have had some great feedback on ‘Entitlement’ the single I released last week. Things have really changed since my last EP release in December. I knew while I was writing ‘Earth, Air, Fire, Water that I was in a transition and now things are really evolving for me musically.

I have especially had fun so far writing the songs which pledgers have asked to be named after them. I set 3 of these rewards on my campaign ‘To have a song named after you’ and all 3 have already been purchased. I have been careful when writing these songs to not write about the person but rather from a distant point of view looking into peoples lives, emotions, things we really all share including intrinsic values. I have also just finished up the second international collaboration on this album with U.S artist EMFB. I released the first collaboration in May of this year ‘Road To Nothing’ with famed Iranian artist Salome Mc.

So far on our campaign we have reached over $2,100 in pledges! Thank you to all my amazing supporters out there. This really is only possible with you and I am honoured to share this momentous event with you all. This work will inevitably become yours as much as mine as we travel together. If you would like to get involved in my Pozible campaign or just hear my story then follow me here.

If you would like to join my mailing list for more direct updates on my music then follow me here. I will be back next week with more developments, for now I thank you, bless

-BAS

WEEK 2 POZIBLE UPDATE & FREESTYLE

Welcome to a new week! and this week we have reached 37% of our Pozible campaign. So I was composing a new song for the album ‘Sides Of Me’ yesterday and thought why not just but something off the top of my head. We have 6 weeks to go of this campaign, and though thats sounds like a long time… It isn’t. Last week was a big week with the release of my new single ‘Entitlement’ Which was released on Friday as a thank you to pledgers. I will have more new music for you before this campaign finishes. I am also hoping to release a film clip along the way.

‘Entitlement’ is available for exclusive download to pledgers and is available for Streaming via Soundcloud. The 1st single ‘Foreword’ released last month is available for download via all reputable digital stores and is available for streaming on Spotify.

If you are just joining and would like to get involved in my Pozible campaign or find out what this is all about then you can follow me HERE. Right now I need all the support I can get, so if you believe in what i’m doing, get involved and become a part of this monumental point in my music career

An MC, Bboy, beatboxer, producer and Hip Hop Theatre artist he has performed from New York to Tanzania, the Sydney Opera House to Prague. His extensive work with indigenous communities includes The Wilcannia Mob’s “Down River” which he remixed for MIA’s album “Kala”. Morganics is currently completing his forthcoming album “Music For My Friends And My Enemies” and is in post production for his Hip Hop feature film, “Survival Tactics”.

EE’DA
From rural to urban, ancient to contemporary, Ee’da’s work encapsulates diversity. She is a spoken-word performance artist, dancer, arts educator and musician. Her sound traverses hip-hop, soul, folk, reggae and electronica. She has performed at the Arts Centre, United Nations Conference opening, Bowery Poetry Club NYC, National Day Celebrations in Aajmer, India, The Silveroom in Chicago and Federation Square. In 2012, at the Sydney Harmony International Short Film Festival, she earned the title of Most Original Concept for ‘Fade to white’, a spoken word piece discussing the disturbing practice of skin-bleaching among women of colour. She is the Founder and Creative Director of Sisters For Sisters (SFS), a women’s arts and music collective that spearheads fundraising initiatives for worthy causes locally and abroad. She was awarded recently the Victoria’s Multicultural Awards for Excellence for her engagement in community work. She may wear many hats but Ee’da is driven by a singular passion – to live a purposeful life, living for the love of music, community, the arts and the simple power of expression.

TUMI (aka TUMI the BE)
Tumi AKA Tumi the Be began writing songs as a form of expression in October 2010 and has not looked back since the first time he connected the dots that gave his words meaning. With earlier stylistic influences such as Dr Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West, this poet/MC tells his stories through a mixture of spoken word and concept driven rap.

BASTIAN KILLJOY
Bastian Killjoy is a Melbourne based Hip Hop producer and emcee who combines atmospheric soundscapes with acoustic drum breaks, providing a unique and intricate backdrop for his superior and fierce vocal style. That combines intelligent lyrics and tackles social issues with a fast paced rhythmic flow. Resulting in a sound that is truly unique within the Australian Hip Hop scene.

GABRIELA GEORGES
Gabriela Georges is an acoustic musician and spoken-word poet from Melbourne’s West. This year, she has performed in the Sydney Fringe Festival, won her first poetry slam as part of the Melbourne Writer’s Festival and had her work published in Vic Uni’s Offset Arts Journal. In her original music, she enjoys exploring the fusion of acoustic r’n’b and hip-hop as well as the use of rhythm and percussion. Interested in the human psyche and experiences of love and loss; Gabriela is now in the process of recording her first EP due early 2015. You can find her on FB and catch her performing at the Djerriwarrh Festival next week as well as the Activist Arts Festival on November the 15th.

TOLLS
Tolls is a tepid middle-aged woman in a hot headed little boys body. An MC/poet/stage wrecker originally from the depths of Central Victoria, (Seymour) but now currently based in Brunswick, he brings a mixture of energetic flows, honest lyrics, and an uncompromising attitude on stage. Tolls is currently working predominately alongside Davinci, a producer from Hobart, now also living in Brunswick. Tolls has supported the likes of Mantra, Joelistics (Slamalamadingdong Feature), JackyT, WiLnO, Stormey Coleman (USA) and performed in rap battles alongside some of the best in the country. Don’t believe the hype of this community minded artist though; he will steal your day old bread and nannas pair of crocs.

‘ENTITLEMENT’ OUT NOW!

My new single has arrived! This song is taken from the album ‘Sides Of Me’. I am currently running a Pozible campaign to help me release this album. I have put this song up as a thank you to all the people who have supported my project so far. We kicked this campaign off 11 days ago and have reached over 32% of the funds needed!

All pledgers have been sent a personal download of this song. For the general public it is available for streaming via Soundcloud. I wrote this song in regards to peoples sense of entitlement in Australia and abroad. I am touching on racism here, our disconnection from our planet and surroundings, and the idea that one person or a group of people could have a feeling of ownership over nature and where we inhabit is preposterous. This also relates to governments and their borders.

People seeking refuge deserve help and aid. Indigenous Australians deserve more respect for their land and heritage, and our children, tomorrows future deserve better. This is relative in too many other parts of the world. We are slipping further and further into decay, all sense of decency and democracy has been washed away by our blood soaked beaches. I speak for sustainability, I fight for the human spirit to rise and takes its place among the stars. I seek change.

I enjoy sharing my thoughts and ideals with you. I do this not from a personal point of view in my beliefs, but it is more a collective oversee of what is happening from a spiritual view. If someone who didn’t live on Earth is watching us then how would we look? This is sometimes an embarrassing and uncomfortable thought, but one that needs addressing. We can do better.

If you want to get involved in my Pozible campaign or download this song, you can follow me HERE

If you would like to join my mailing list and receive monthly updates you can do so HERE
