Last week saw the arrival of my latest album ‘Golly Gosh’. Which is now available on all reputable digital outlets. I have taken this album back to my early roots and just wanted to make something in the moment, without over analysing anything too much. And after spending a few months of producing/ writing/ mixing/ mastering the album, this is what I came up with.
I honestly think this is just one of those one off things. Something I won’t try to replicate or dissect. It is now my favourite album and reflects me completely. I’m sure my outlook will continue to change, as it always has. But I will forever very proud to give this to you.
‘Golly Gosh’ is available via iTunes, Google Play, Spotify and many other digital platforms. Physical copies are available via my Bandcamp

Hip Hop artist Bastian Killjoy has set upon a new journey this year with the announcement of his 4th full length album release ‘Golly Gosh’, due for arrival on July 21st 2016.
The rapturous Melbourne based producer/ emcee has modelled his latest works around his earliest Hip Hop, Rap and R&B influences, many being from the early 90’s. With production styles that recognise artists of the 70’s and 80’s, in a time when musician’s recorded/ produced and mixed their albums, utilising their own skills. Which is precisely what Bastian has done with his latest masterpiece ‘Golly Gosh’ entirely produced by himself.
“I have produced all my other albums, to an extent, but have always got to a point where I have needed help from others to complete the project. This time around I have placed a lot of importance on the album belonging to me, I believe it is my most lyrical and personal work to date. After many painstaking months of hard work, I think it’s paid off”. – B. K
From the inspiration of intrigue and true artistry, come the untold workings of Hip Hop enthusiast and architect, Bastian Killjoy.
Album available through – Bandcamp, iTunes and all other reputable outlets

As the production of my album ‘Golly Gosh’ winds up, and I come to the surface to take a breath. I have come to the realisation that I haven’t shared any new music with you this year. As you may have seen last week, I shared an album teaser trailer (Watch here). Now I am proud to share with you my debut single from this release ‘Creep’!
‘Creep’ serves as a footnote to the rest of ‘Golly Gosh’. As an illustration of how the creative process of making music has been rapidly changing for me, examining my place in the music industry, how I see things happening around me. And how money has a tendency to change people in the Hip Hop game.
This song delivers as an ode & reminder to thank and pay homage to those who have come before us. In particular I have made reference to a couple of my greatest inspirations Ms Lauren Hill & TLC. Its not often I site other artists in my works, but this time I felt it was relevant.
I am eagerly waiting an album release date for ‘Golly Gosh’ but for now here’s something to warm your appetite.‘Creep’ is now available for download/ streaming via
Album will be available through – Rising Tide Records, Bandcamp, iTunes and all other reputable outlets. Album release date TBA 2016.
Bastian has released a new single with St Petersburg based producer Bass Estrada. ‘Well Played’ is the second collaborative single release from the 2 artists and is available for exclusive free download via Soundcloud. With the release of Bastian’s new album ‘Sides Of Me’ a couple of months ago Bastian has been branching out and looking at new collaborative projects to work on.
“I have been looking for something different to work on and this just fell right in front of me. There is a soothing and sometimes melancholy sound behind these tracks from Bass Estrada which just drew me to his work. While producing all of my own instrumental in the past, I thought I would expand and draw on different styles between albums. Both ‘Well Played’ and ‘Carry On’ have become some of my most diverse works and it is definitely something I am not complaining about. I have a feeling we will be releasing a lot more music together this year” – BAS

On Friday the 12th of December, as my Pozible campaign was in it’s final stages, I was frantically refreshing my page to see if we would end up reaching our target, and we did! We ended up raising 105% of our total and I can now finish getting the album ‘Sides Of Me’ mixed & mastered and press it on vinyl and CD for you guys. This has only been made possible with your support. Words cannot express my feelings right now.
When I started this campaign I wasn’t sure if I would go ahead. But here we are, this journey has taught me many things about myself and other people. We need more faith, to believe in each other. My heart is full right now. You have made my dreams reality.
I received the first test vinyl for ‘Sides Of Me’ last week and once we head into the new year I will then order copies on vinyl, t shirts, CD’s and posters to be ready after the Christmas break. Everything will then be packaged and sent off to you by mid February 2015.
If you have purchased digital copies of previous works they will be sent out via email early January 2015 via email.
It’s been over 9 years ago that I started Bastian Killjoy and nothing happens over night. I still have a long way to go in achieving all my goals as an artist but this is a big step towards them becoming reality. I think next year is going to be a big year and I have lot of new music to bring you all.
I will send you updates as things are being finalised and ready to send to you, so keep checking those emails.
For those of you who missed the deadline for pre orders, don’t worry, I will still be taking orders for vinyl and CD until January 2015. If you would like to pre order a copy of my album ‘Sides Of Me’ then please complete the contact form below and I will get the details straight to you.
Well I am proud to announce the release of my latest single and film clip for ‘Tie Me To This’. We have been working flat out to finish this video and release it to the public. 6 weeks ago I launched my Pozible campaign to assist me in completing and releasing my album ‘Sides Of Me’ on vinyl/ CD and digital format. During this period I have finishing my end of the album, producing my accompanying music and recording my vocals. I then have been sending my projects over seas to be finished, but I don’t have the money yet.
So far we have raised 76% of the funds needed for me me to be able to pay everyone and release this and with just 2 weeks to go I will admit I am still feeling pretty nervous. I have a reward system for pledgers to receive pre orders of the album in all formats, T shirts, past releases + much more. If you would like to get involved or find out more follow me HERE.
If I was asked what this song is about, which I will be, I would say it strongly relates to my passion for music, how we have become intertwined in a love hate relationship and eventually have had to learn to co exist with each other. There are a lot of references to genre boundaries. Commercial viability vs uninhibited creativity. I have addressed many of my frustrations relating to these subjects here. Really this song is left to interpretation, how people choose to digest this song is out of my control. Though my sentiments are there. I feel like this music video is a big step in relating my new work to a broader audience. I have been growing away from the Hip Hop scene as I have grown older. Now I just like to make music and to push all my influences as far as I can in the realm on new creativity.
The single for ‘Tie Me To This’ is available for streaming via my Soundcloud channel along with 3 other singles I released from the album. Right now this song is only available for download exclusivley to pledgers of my Pozible campaign, along with the other singles released
This video was shot by Flutterby Creative at our home studio in Melbourne and mixed/ mastered at North Village Recording in the U.S. I must thank both Bron Flutterby and Tim Hanson for working on the audio and visual aspects of this song. It really has been a team effort. We will have more film clips coming out leading up to the release of the album ‘Sides Of Me’. I would also like to give a huge thanks to all the supporters of my Pozible campaign, who have pushed and inspired me to keep moving foreward.
I will have more details pertaining to this album release soon. For more direct updates from me you can join my mailing list HERE.
We have been working sweat and tears to bring you this single and accompanying film clip. ‘Tie Me To This’ is the 4th single release from my next album ‘Sides Of Me’ which is set for release late February of 2015. This will be the last single release until the album arrives next year. We (Flutterby Multimedia and I) have never done anything like this video before. We have taken all abstracts of reality and tuned them into a single headspace within it’s own theme. If that sounds crazy, well it is and it has been also very fun to make.
We are now in the final stages of editing and rendering out this video. So it will be finished very soon. All pledgers of my Pozible campaign will be receiving an exclusive download of the new single ‘Tie Me To This’ as well as an exclusive preview of the music video before it’s release. So if this is you keep checking your emails for something from me.
I am currently running a Pozible campaign to finish and release this album on both vinyl and CD format. I have been running this campaign for almost 6 weeks and with just over 2 weeks to go we have raised 75% of the total needed to complete ‘Sides Of Me’. This has been an exhaustive, inspiring and sometimes heart wrenching experience but one I am glad to be a part of. I have released 3 other singles from the album which are available for streaming and download HERE.
Hello to everyone out there, welcome to this weeks update on my Pozible campaign. We are already 3 weeks in and time is flying by. I’m trying to keep creative on these updates, so I thought I would do something different. I have also laid ‘Entitlement’ over the video, so I suppose you could look at this as a music video. Speaking of which, we are currently shooting a film clip for the next single. I don’t have an exact arrival time on this yet, but I can tell you it will be released within the next month before the campaign winds up in December.
So far we are making great steed on finishing this album. I only have 3 more songs to write/ compose/ record and then everything will be sent off to U.S based producer Tim Hanson at North Village Recordings, for mixing and mastering. I have had some great feedback on ‘Entitlement’ the single I released last week. Things have really changed since my last EP release in December. I knew while I was writing ‘Earth, Air, Fire, Water‘ that I was in a transition and now things are really evolving for me musically.
I have especially had fun so far writing the songs which pledgers have asked to be named after them. I set 3 of these rewards on my campaign ‘To have a song named after you’ and all 3 have already been purchased. I have been careful when writing these songs to not write about the person but rather from a distant point of view looking into peoples lives, emotions, things we really all share including intrinsic values. I have also just finished up the second international collaboration on this album with U.S artist EMFB. I released the first collaboration in May of this year ‘Road To Nothing’ with famed Iranian artist Salome Mc.
So far on our campaign we have reached over $2,100 in pledges! Thank you to all my amazing supporters out there. This really is only possible with you and I am honoured to share this momentous event with you all. This work will inevitably become yours as much as mine as we travel together. If you would like to get involved in my Pozible campaign or just hear my story then follow me here.
If you would like to join my mailing list for more direct updates on my music then follow me here. I will be back next week with more developments, for now I thank you, bless
Welcome to a new week! and this week we have reached 37% of our Pozible campaign. So I was composing a new song for the album ‘Sides Of Me’ yesterday and thought why not just but something off the top of my head. We have 6 weeks to go of this campaign, and though thats sounds like a long time… It isn’t. Last week was a big week with the release of my new single ‘Entitlement’ Which was released on Friday as a thank you to pledgers. I will have more new music for you before this campaign finishes. I am also hoping to release a film clip along the way.
‘Entitlement’ is available for exclusive download to pledgers and is available for Streaming via Soundcloud. The 1st single ‘Foreword’ released last month is available for download via all reputable digital stores and is available for streaming on Spotify.
If you are just joining and would like to get involved in my Pozible campaign or find out what this is all about then you can follow me HERE. Right now I need all the support I can get, so if you believe in what i’m doing, get involved and become a part of this monumental point in my music career

My new single has arrived! This song is taken from the album ‘Sides Of Me’. I am currently running a Pozible campaign to help me release this album. I have put this song up as a thank you to all the people who have supported my project so far. We kicked this campaign off 11 days ago and have reached over 32% of the funds needed!
All pledgers have been sent a personal download of this song. For the general public it is available for streaming via Soundcloud. I wrote this song in regards to peoples sense of entitlement in Australia and abroad. I am touching on racism here, our disconnection from our planet and surroundings, and the idea that one person or a group of people could have a feeling of ownership over nature and where we inhabit is preposterous. This also relates to governments and their borders.
People seeking refuge deserve help and aid. Indigenous Australians deserve more respect for their land and heritage, and our children, tomorrows future deserve better. This is relative in too many other parts of the world. We are slipping further and further into decay, all sense of decency and democracy has been washed away by our blood soaked beaches. I speak for sustainability, I fight for the human spirit to rise and takes its place among the stars. I seek change.
I enjoy sharing my thoughts and ideals with you. I do this not from a personal point of view in my beliefs, but it is more a collective oversee of what is happening from a spiritual view. If someone who didn’t live on Earth is watching us then how would we look? This is sometimes an embarrassing and uncomfortable thought, but one that needs addressing. We can do better.

“So many people will tell you ”no”, and you need to find something you believe in so hard that you just smile and tell them ”watch me”. Learn to take rejection as motivation to prove people wrong. Be unstoppable. Refuse to give up, no matter what. It’s the best skill you can ever learn.”

With the release of their new album This Way To elsewhere, Mind Over Matter have smashed their way into the charts with their album debuting at #6 on iTunes and #61 on the ARIA charts. The good people at I Forget Sorry & Big Tree Artists have put together a national tour and I am proud to announce that I will be supporting MOM for the Melbourne leg of this tour along with artist Tys on the 11th of July.
After the success of powerful new single What They Say, featuring guest verses from hip-hop heavyweights and touring buddies Bliss N Eso, Sydney duo Mind Over Matter are primed to deliver their highly anticipated third LP This Way To Elsewhere – out May 30 via Permanent/Shock Records (pre-order from iTunes or JB Hi-Fi)
and will be hitting the road this June/July.
Mind Over Matter (MCs Willow and Smiles Again) have gone from strength to strength since the 2006 release of their debut mixtape For Our Hip Hoppers. Their rapid musical growth can be heard on the world-class production of This Way To Elsewhere. Pre-production on the album took place over a two week period with producer Matik (Seth Sentry, Pez, Bliss N Eso) and multi-instrumentalist Jon Reichardt at a holiday house in the beautiful Salamander Bay. The remainder of the album was recorded at Smiles Again’s Sydney studio The Swordfish Tank.
Once the record was complete, the band headed to Chicago for an intensive mixing process with Craig Bauer (Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West). “When we set out to make this album we wanted the most universal sound we could achieve. We’re stoked with what we cooked up,” says Smiles Again of the record.
Mind Over Matter also will be hitting the road nationally throughout June/July to bring their highly evolved sound to you live, and show the world why they’re a force to be reckoned with.

This week on The Bourne Collective I will be talking to Brisbane artist and producer Omegachild on the release of his new album “Postcards” and the short film “Waiting For Postcards”. Omegachild has set out on a journey across India to produce his new album and will be launching this feature in Brisbane on the 10th of June at New Globe Theatre.
Waiting For Postcards is a short film that follows the story of Omegachild – an emerging composer and electronic music producer from Brisbane – as he embarks on a journey through India to create an album on-the-fly inspired by both a growing unease with the daily grind at home, and the beautiful people and places in one of the craziest countries in the world.
Directed by award winning filmmaker and photographer Danny McShane, Waiting For Postcards was shot in a variety of locations all over India, in places as diverse as the snow capped mountains of the Himalayas to the dry Rajasthani desert near the Pakistan border.
The premiere screening of the film will coincide with the soundtrack release of Postcards, an ambient electronic exploration that takes cues from the daily sounds of a country at once bustling yet capable of eliciting deep introspection. It will be followed by an exhibition of photographs taken on 35mm film by Danny throughout the trip.
Launch: Tuesday 10th June, 2014
Venue: New Globe Theatre, 220 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley
Be sure to tune in tonight at 11pm to catch this interview on 97.1fm 3MDR. If you would like to stream the show or check out our podcast at a later date you can do so here. I will be back next week to interview Hip Hop artist Celestial Serpent.
Bastian Killjoy has come together with Iranian Hip Hop artist Salome MC for the release his new single “Road To Nothing”. Salome MC has gained recognition as Iran’s first female rapper and now resides in Japan. The 2 got in contact in early 2013 and have been corresponding since then, sending ideas back and forth, and sharing personal perspectives on music.“Road To Nothing” will feature on Bastian’ next album. Release date TBA through Wordsmiths Records.
“Road To Nothing” will be available soon for FREE download via Bandcamp
Bastian Killjoy is a Melbourne based hip hop producer and emcee who combines driving hip hop beats with acoustic drum breaks and steel string guitar, providing a unique and intricate backdrop for his superior and fierce vocal style that combines intelligent lyrics and tackles social issues with a fast paced rhythmic flow. This results in a sound that is truly unique within the Australian Hip Hop scene.
Slamadingdong titled Bastian Killjoy slam poetry champ for June 2013, he has also recently been hailed Global Hip Hop Collective’s artist of the month for January 2014, with the successful launch and release of his latest EP “Earth – Air – Fire – Water” in December of 2013.
Salome Mc started making hip-hop music as an art school freshman in 2002, in Tehran. Pursuing her passion for poetry, music and visual arts in different levels ever since, releasing songs online -while being recognised as the first female rapper of Iran- and experimenting with different mediums of visual expression that goes along.
Salome moved to Japan to further study in the field of audio/visual arts, exploring new ways of expression that would reflect her new life style: away from urban life and closer to nature. Now in addition to making music for urban listener, Salome tries to create a connection incorporating sound, photo and/or video in form of contemporary art with a universal audience.
Welcome to 2014. It has been a busy start to the new year and very welcomed indeed. I have been hailed Global Hip Hop Collective’s artist of the month for January! I am very proud of this achievement and thankful that I am reaching you out there. So just after I released my new EP “Earth – Air – Fire – Water” on Christmas Day, I got a call from Zulu Flow telling me I was nominated for GHC artist of the month. To say I was excited is an understatement. We got together a couple of weeks ago and had an interview, which you can check out by clicking the photo.
There are so many new projects I am working on this year and this just gave me the boost I needed to push harder than ever to have my voice heard, and to make positive change where possible in the Hip Hop community.
The good people at GHC also reviewed my new EP.
“Self produced, written, published and recorded, Bastian Killjoy nails all aspects on this release. Originally written as a film score, then experimented on by laying down some hip hop beats and eventually evolving into a five track EP. Mixed and mastered at Heezers in Missouri the finished sound is super clean without being too much so. Crisp beats, intelligent lyrics delivered with swift viciousness and complimented with a hint of welcome warmness. The depth of the content as well as the music means that one listen is nowhere near enough to really ‘get’ each song. Each of the four elements are cryptically, not literally represented, which allows one to delve deeper into the meaning behind each song. The production contains just the right mixture of soul, boom bap and melody to remain interesting, get my head softly swaying back and forth and my ear sharply tuned into the lyrics.
Overall I didn’t rate this release super highly at first. However after multiple listens it grew on me. One of the highlights was the song “Fire,” which begins with the sounds of a crackling fire place, then is accompanied by some orchestral strings and transitions smoothly into the most structurally and sonically pleasing joint on the release. Another highlight was the three minute instrumental-lude at the end of the first track. A refreshing point of difference that allows the music to speak for itself.
An element which feels missing from the mix is ‘fun’ – the entire vibe of the release is quite serious and sombre, which is where the track ‘Fire’ shines above the rest, being the one track that combines this fun factor while remaining sentimental, no nonsense, to-the-point and cryptic all at the same time. Earth, Air, Fire, Water is a valiant contribution, musical food for the thinking man.”
