There has been so much support from people out there, that I wanted to give something back. So I am releasing another single from the album as a token of my appreciation.
I was going to hold off on sharing this song, Entitlement is one of my personal favourites from this album. But I would say that is even more reason to share it with you all! I will have a video update on my Pozible campaign up on Monday. So stay tuned for that too. I will have more details on how I am traveling then. For now I can tell you we have reached $1,210 so far! If you want a copy of my next album on vinyl I suggest getting in quick. I only have a limited run available at this stage.
“So many people will tell you ”no”, and you need to find something you believe in so hard that you just smile and tell them ”watch me”. Learn to take rejection as motivation to prove people wrong. Be unstoppable. Refuse to give up, no matter what. It’s the best skill you can ever learn.”
― Charlotte Eriksson
As I continue to put myself out there, I am astounded by peoples belief in me to succeed, and I will succeed. If you would like to pre order an album or get involved you can follow me Here.
If you would like to join my monthly mailing list you can do so Here.
So after just 2 and a half days of this campaign being active we have reached $680 in pledges thanks to all you amazing people out there!
This campaign has been launched to help me complete and release my album ‘Sides Of Me’ on vinyl as well as CD. My deadline for raising the total funds is in December, so we have just 2 months to make this possible.
I have been working on ‘Sides Of Me’ since January of 2014 and I am just finishing up the final 2 songs. I released the single ‘Foreword’ from the album in August of 2014, to give people an idea of what I have been working on. The positive feedback I have received from listeners and fellow artists has been tremendous.
I have really put myself out there in doing this. It has already given me a lot of confidence and hope to see how far we have already reached with your support.
I will be bringing you weekly updates on this project including video updates and the release of new singles along the way.
To keep up to date on this project I have created an event on Facebook. More directly I will be sending out weekly newsletters via my mailing list. If you would like to sign up to the mailing list click HERE. To all of you out there, I thank you for your support. It is great to know that as an independent artist my work is still valued and acknowledged by music lovers.
I have launched my crowd funding campaign! This is very exciting. This is the story of my life’s passion, my inspirations and motives behind making music, and why I am so compelled to get my message out to people. It has taken me almost a decade of personal growth; through creative expression to arrive here, to this album ‘Sides Of Me’ so I thought I would make this one count!
I will be bringing this album to you on Vinyl as well as CD and digital formats. This has been in the making for a long time and I hope with your support I can release my album ‘Sides Of Me’
I have undertaken a massive amount of growth in my music through persistence and with the help of U.S based producer and friend, Tim Hanson of North Village Recording. Who has worked with me, mixing and mastering my music for the last 3 years. Once again he will be working with me in the mixing and mastering process of this project.
If you would like to get involved or find out more information you can follow my campaign HERE
I have a lot of goodies to offer but if your after a record I suggest getting in quick!
The single will be available for streaming via Soundcloud and will be available for download via Bandcamp. This is a new stage of progression in Bastian’s career, moving towards a more abstract view of music, how music is perceived by the listener and the intentions of the artist.
“Much of my music in the past has been solely focused on a broad experience of my surroundings, the external components that have had an impact on me as a person. While working on “Foreword, and much of this album, I have made a conscious decision to internalise my emotions and feelings towards existence itself and my growth. Without the influence of any external forces.
In this age, sometimes it’s hard to see what is actually real. With so many diversions, negativity and miss information shared with us on a daily basis. I needed to step back.
I feel this new work may not interest many people in the Hip Hop community. But it is something I do not fear. This is my evolution and I am hoping to connect with listeners from all countries, from all backgrounds. I am very happy to share this with you!”

With the release of their new album This Way To elsewhere, Mind Over Matter have smashed their way into the charts with their album debuting at #6 on iTunes and #61 on the ARIA charts. The good people at I Forget Sorry & Big Tree Artists have put together a national tour and I am proud to announce that I will be supporting MOM for the Melbourne leg of this tour along with artist Tys on the 11th of July.
After the success of powerful new single What They Say, featuring guest verses from hip-hop heavyweights and touring buddies Bliss N Eso, Sydney duo Mind Over Matter are primed to deliver their highly anticipated third LP This Way To Elsewhere – out May 30 via Permanent/Shock Records (pre-order from iTunes or JB Hi-Fi)
and will be hitting the road this June/July.
Mind Over Matter (MCs Willow and Smiles Again) have gone from strength to strength since the 2006 release of their debut mixtape For Our Hip Hoppers. Their rapid musical growth can be heard on the world-class production of This Way To Elsewhere. Pre-production on the album took place over a two week period with producer Matik (Seth Sentry, Pez, Bliss N Eso) and multi-instrumentalist Jon Reichardt at a holiday house in the beautiful Salamander Bay. The remainder of the album was recorded at Smiles Again’s Sydney studio The Swordfish Tank.
Once the record was complete, the band headed to Chicago for an intensive mixing process with Craig Bauer (Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West). “When we set out to make this album we wanted the most universal sound we could achieve. We’re stoked with what we cooked up,” says Smiles Again of the record.
Mind Over Matter also will be hitting the road nationally throughout June/July to bring their highly evolved sound to you live, and show the world why they’re a force to be reckoned with.

Bastian Killjoy is a Melbourne based hip hop producer and emcee who combines driving hip hop beats with acoustic drum breaks and steel string guitar, providing a unique and intricate backdrop for his superior and fierce vocal style that combines intelligent lyrics and tackles social issues with a fast paced rhythmic flow. This results in a sound that is truly unique within the Australian Hip Hop scene.
Slamadingdong titled Bastian Killjoy slam poetry champ for June 2013, he has also recently been hailed Global Hip Hop Collective’s artist of the month for January 2014, with the successful launch and release of his latest EP “Earth – Air – Fire – Water” in December of 2013.
Salome Mc started making hip-hop music as an art school freshman in 2002, in Tehran. Pursuing her passion for poetry, music and visual arts in different levels ever since, releasing songs online -while being recognised as the first female rapper of Iran- and experimenting with different mediums of visual expression that goes along.
Salome moved to Japan to further study in the field of audio/visual arts, exploring new ways of expression that would reflect her new life style: away from urban life and closer to nature. Now in addition to making music for urban listener, Salome tries to create a connection incorporating sound, photo and/or video in form of contemporary art with a universal audience.
This song is from my release “Painted Landscape”. My beliefs held and expressed in this song may be very conflicting and controversial to some people, but I do try to express that differing ideologies should be taken with an open mind. I decided to incorporate the alphabet in this track to push my lyrical ability to it’s limits. I know this idea has been done before but I wanted to present it in an all new way. When I wrote this song I honestly though it would bring some attention to what I am doing, nether the less it has assisted in my growth and development as an artist. So whats it all about?
Well I believe we are descended from aliens, to be more precise the Annunaki, a civilisation which date back to the Sumerians. I believe I channel inter-dimensional beings when I make music or feed creativity. So I was thinking, if I was to send a message to other beings in the universe or other dimensions about Earth, what would I say? I would speak about our history, which has a very dark past, the beauties of humanity and everything in between. I would greet them with love and compassion. I would send a message of hope and unity across the galaxy. For this is what I already believe I am doing. Actions are motivated by intention, my intentions are to interact and send a higher vibration to this planet, it’s people and beyond, and I would try to let go of ego and the negativity that hinders progress in order to achieve my goal.
I am not an atheist or anti religion, I believe in spirituality and that the physical body is just a vessel to carry us through the part of this journey, quantum physics has a lot of answers to our questions. It is fair to say our governments have lied to us and plan to destroy this planet for the gain of power over the people. That they have rejected every attempt for world peace and the desertion of fossil fuels, that there is a monopoly over natural resources. Where money takes president over life and freedom.
I believe it is my duty to speak out about these problems and address possible solutions. We have the power to change this world, to save ourselves and to learn something along the way. I speak for peace, I ask for unity. That is why I am sending you this message.
Welcome to 2014. It has been a busy start to the new year and very welcomed indeed. I have been hailed Global Hip Hop Collective’s artist of the month for January! I am very proud of this achievement and thankful that I am reaching you out there. So just after I released my new EP “Earth – Air – Fire – Water” on Christmas Day, I got a call from Zulu Flow telling me I was nominated for GHC artist of the month. To say I was excited is an understatement. We got together a couple of weeks ago and had an interview, which you can check out by clicking the photo.
There are so many new projects I am working on this year and this just gave me the boost I needed to push harder than ever to have my voice heard, and to make positive change where possible in the Hip Hop community.
The good people at GHC also reviewed my new EP.
“Self produced, written, published and recorded, Bastian Killjoy nails all aspects on this release. Originally written as a film score, then experimented on by laying down some hip hop beats and eventually evolving into a five track EP. Mixed and mastered at Heezers in Missouri the finished sound is super clean without being too much so. Crisp beats, intelligent lyrics delivered with swift viciousness and complimented with a hint of welcome warmness. The depth of the content as well as the music means that one listen is nowhere near enough to really ‘get’ each song. Each of the four elements are cryptically, not literally represented, which allows one to delve deeper into the meaning behind each song. The production contains just the right mixture of soul, boom bap and melody to remain interesting, get my head softly swaying back and forth and my ear sharply tuned into the lyrics.
Overall I didn’t rate this release super highly at first. However after multiple listens it grew on me. One of the highlights was the song “Fire,” which begins with the sounds of a crackling fire place, then is accompanied by some orchestral strings and transitions smoothly into the most structurally and sonically pleasing joint on the release. Another highlight was the three minute instrumental-lude at the end of the first track. A refreshing point of difference that allows the music to speak for itself.
An element which feels missing from the mix is ‘fun’ – the entire vibe of the release is quite serious and sombre, which is where the track ‘Fire’ shines above the rest, being the one track that combines this fun factor while remaining sentimental, no nonsense, to-the-point and cryptic all at the same time. Earth, Air, Fire, Water is a valiant contribution, musical food for the thinking man.”

I have released a brand spanking new single from my forthcoming EP “Earth, Air, Fire, Water” I wrote this song about preemptive war, which has been sparked by the Wests greed for oil, primarily the U.S. But this blame lands at all our feet. We need abandon this system, it has failed. While we continue to participate in the murder of children and pillaging of foreign countries for natural resources how can there be hope? You are the future, we are the change. I hope this reaches you. I could write so much more about this but I did write a song a bout it so here it is.

A few months ago I was cruising around with the radio on, I was listening to local PBS. They generally play great local and international music on there, but one song stood out as I was listening, I turned it up and was taken on a journey of musical energy, I couldn’t pick up the language (which intrigued me even more).
As the presenter came back on air she said “That was Salome MC from Iran”. I kept saying her name in my head until I got home so I would remember it. After 30 attempts at spelling her name into Google, I got it and while on her Soundcloud I found her most recent album “I Officially Exist”.
Salome Mc is an Iranian Hip hop and multi-media artist. She has released three Hip Hop albums online, along with a string of self-made music videos, and gained recognition as the first female rapper of Iran. She added experimental audio/visual productions to her field of work after moving to Japan, and had various performances, Exhibitions and screenings in different countries. Right now she is a master’s student in fine arts in Japan.
It is rare that I find such spiritually, in tune, pure Hip Hop and Salome’s work is nothing short of inspiring. I listened to the whole album and was hooked. Here is an artist that has stood up against the powers that divide nations and openly speaks about the deceit of religious institutions. Salome’s story and powerful message will move you. If you want change here it is.
So I hit up Salome, I explained how I found her music and how I would like to work with her. Now we are collaborating on a song together! You can expect something by the end of the year. If you want to listen to Salome MC’s music click the photo for a link.
